Week 3 Rankings... need a few explanations

Some coaches research each week and their rankings will show. Which is how it should be. Others will put in their rankings week one and they never change it. Bad. Some rank their half of the state over the other half just because its east vs. west and the other half does the same thing. (Look at Goodwell in boys rankings. Six first place votes. Guess where all six votes came from.) BAD. We can only truly know who we see during the season. I rank Calumet (boys) high because I scrimmaged them and they are the best B team I've seen so far. Their only loss is to a really good Okarche team. Some in the east would say they shouldn't be that high. Thats their opinion. Maybe Macomb doesn't want to get blasted by 80 next time they play Varnum so they rank them high. I don't know if Varnum's coach is that guy, but maybe that's the motivation behind the ranking. Who knows. A lot of people who complain about the rankings just want their team ranked higher. The system works when done correctly. Early rankings usually don't last the whole season. By the end it is figured out.
