District champs and runner up flops

If Vinita is healthy I agree. If Vinita is missing a dude, then I give the edge to Kiefer. People are talking about Vinita depth but I am not sure where they are getting that. This is one of the most even playoff games you will see in the first round in any class. Excited to see how it plays out. Either way, they matchup with a tough Vian team on the road in round two. But it is the playoffs and anything can happen. 

What's the story with Washington rotating QBs? Not happy with #10? Just noticing that he wasn't always in.

I totally agree with LA2122 regarding the quality of first round matchup we are getting with Kiefer and Vinita, and if healthy, Vinita is going to be a very tough out in either of the first two rounds.  This may be the game I go watch on Friday night.  It's by far the best and most intriguing first round match-up in 2A.  Kiefer is rightly favored and probably a bit better in the throwing game, but Vinita has experienced players all over the field.  If Paul Glass**** plays well, they have a shot.  Ransom Williams can be a big playmaker for the Hornets.  For Kiefer, Brayden Barber is a dynamic playmaker on both sides of the ball.  

6A doesn't have much balance, so there are fewer early games of great interest.  The other classes all present some fun 1st round games.

5A:  McAlester at Collinsville; Guthrie at Elgin--Erik McCarty from McAlester is a special player, worth the price of admission to watch.  Before the season there were people who thought this game could be the championship matchup.  The season has not turned out as well as people hoped, but there is enough talent there to challenge Collinsville on the road.

4A:  Ada at Wagoner; Bethany at Clinton

3A:  Marlow at Perkins; Kingfisher at Lone Grove

2A:  Vinita at Keifer; Frederick at Davis

In response to the comments from Mrtushka, although Beggs is a much tougher first round opponent for a 1-seed to get in a normal year,  I would not count Beggs at Rejoice as a great matchup.  I went to the game when they played each other in September.  Rejoice could have named the score.  It was a huge organizational mismatch.  I way overrated Beggs.  Beggs has some really good players and athletes, but they do not play well as a team.  They win and win big when they can play bully ball with size and speed, but they struggle when challenged with disciplined football.  What has happened to Beggs as the year has gone on has borne this out.  Here are the results of their last three games:  Lost 18-35 at home to Sperry, struggled on the road against Morris 28-20 (W), and lost at home to Kiefer 14-28.  That is not the profile of a team getting its act together.  Honestly, other than their win against a solid Victory team (who does not play much defense), what have they accomplished this year to make you think they could knock off one of the top two teams in 2A on the road?  I don't see it.

On the other hand, big time quarterbacks CAN and DO lead teams to upset wins.  For that reason, consider watching Pawhuska vs Victory for a possible surprise.  Todd Drummond is the leading passer in 2A.  His line has really improved as the season has gone along to the point where he has time to see the field.  He is a accurate thrower with a big arm.  The Huskies just lack breakaway speed and playmaking at WR this year.  

This year, 2A has a lot better top end talent at RB than at QB.  This part of the reason I favor Rejoice to win it all as long as Chance Wilson is healthy for the playoffs.  There are a ton of RBs that are fun to watch: Rickey Hunt Jr. (Millwood), Ravian Larry (Idabel), Red Martel (Beggs), Desean Mays & Masyn Wright (Vian), Cole Scott (Washington), Casmen Hill (Chandler), Logan Hattaway (Claremore Sequoyah), and Judah Byrams (Victory).  The thing that separates Washington is the fact that they have multiple big-bodied athletic tight ends (Roberts, Milner, etc.) that create tremendous problems for opposing defenses as well as having depth and speed defensively.

If Kiefer opens it up and gets the ball out in space, they have several players that can take it the distance in a hurry. They also have a couple matchup issues with big receivers #10 and #9 (TE). The games I've watched against Noah the big TE played incredible against the D-1 kid and against Beggs #10 completely took over the game on both sides of the ball.  #88 looks like a track kid, very elusive in space and #2 is a hardnosed fast kid with good vision that fights for every yard. If the QB spreads the ball around and plays well they are tuff to matchup with. 

Vinita is really good at QB #9 from the game I've seen against CS. Very dynamic kid that scrambles incredibly well and is a gambler. Vinita QB reminds me of VC QB shifty maybe not quite as fast but throws down the field better.  They also have big targets in #28 who is a matchup issue with his size and speed and #34 who is a bruiser and playmaker at receiver. #6 is a quick hard running kid who cuts well in space and I think I remember #24 who hits the hole hard for a good change of pace.  

They are very close on offensive weapons and similar in style of play, so it could very well come down to the Defenses. Kiefer may have to go man at times in the secondary so they don't loose track of receivers with the scrambling QB. Kiefer is very athletic up front and will go after him, so it will be a fun matchup to watch. Vinita will have to pick their poison. Stop the run or pass first with Kiefer's balance.

Crazy matchup for a first round game. Winner could march to the semi's where who knows what could happen.

Hopefully the refs let them play and it doesn't turn into the Eufaula vs Idabel or Kiefer vs Victory flag fest.   

District 7 vs 8
has the best 4 team matchups in my opinion overall

VC beats Pawhuska (won't be real close)
CS will beat Sperry (could be a surprise close game)
Beggs will field the best athletes and Rejoice will beat them. (unless Beggs can find that VC or revenge magic)

Question? is there a District that if 7 or 8 crossed with that district they would win every game. Could happen here but would there be a more likely scenario? Beggs could be a nightmare for some district champs not named Rejoice or Washington I would assume.
