Evaluation of teams (Class 2A boys)

#1. Dale- lost to now 3A #6 Jones. Beat 3A #2 OCS, 2A #8 AmPo by 30. Had scare against CHA before the break. Shows promising signs, but at moments the youth. Starting 3 freshmen and 2 sophomores. The Kingston Tourney will be another measuring stick for them with possible games against Silo and Marlow. Can the Pirates finally get the job done and play on Championship Saturday for the 4th time in program history?

#2. Cashion- Way too early to tell with them coming straight out of football. They have played one game against a sub par Thomas team. I don't think we will really know until their tournament because they open up with 6A #1 Jenks at the TOC. Will this be the year they get to the Semifinals for the 2nd time in program history?

#3. OK Union- lost to 4A #15 Mannford. Has some head scratching wins though. I can't tell either because they don't play another ranked team outside the tournaments. It will be hard to tell because of that IMO, but they are the champs until someone proves otherwise. Can the Cougars make it back and go back to back??

#4. Morrison- Another school that played football deep into December. I assume the loss to Perry has something to do with that and a rivalry game. Beat then A #16 Ripley by 25+. They have some games ahead that will test them and we can evaluate later on, but I fully expect them to be in the mix. They were a bucket away from sending Dale home last year. Will this be the year they advance past the quarterfinals fro the 2nd time in program history?

#5. Howe- I'm not sure on this one. They lost some big pieces last year. They've lost to every ranked team they've played except Buffalo Valley. If they won the game @panama after the break and the LCT I would be more sold on them this high. They proved me wrong last year at state. Can they do it again and bring the boys gold ball to Leflore County for the second time ever?

#6. Hooker- Lost to Perryton, TX, A #2 Garber, and Morreland. I expected more out of the Bulldogs this year. They lost some good athletes, but they have something no one else in 2A has, SIZE and maybe the best big in the class. The guards are going to have to improve if they want to get to OKC and further into the tournament. Can Hooker bring the panhandle a gold ball and get past the first round after a couple early exits?

#7. Silo- Lost to 3A #2 OCS by 8, 3A #16 Purcell by 25, and 3A #20 Valliant by 23. Beat 2A #12 Calera by . I know I heard that they were without the point guard against Calera and Valiant. I'd like to see them beat a couple ranked teams. The OCS game was close but the coaches technical really hurt them and changed the look of the game. I think they too have one of the best bigs in the class. The Kingston NYC will be huge for them. Can the Rebels make their first appearance since 1975?

#8. AmPo- Lost to 2A #1 Dale by 27. Beat a #12 Velma by 2. I really thought defensively they were sound, just struggled to score at times. I really think the Minco game could've helped measure where they are at. Can they keep winning and advance to state for the fire time since 1980?

3 TEAMS TO WATCH:

#9 Hinton- undefeated with some quality wins. Can the Comets keep soaring?

#14 Pocola- Almost pulled out a tournament win. The LCT will be big for the Indians. Can Pocola get over the Howe Hump and win the LCT?

#18 Mangum- I know they lost to Hobart and maybe Hobart should be here but I'm going with the Tigers. They returned a lot off a team that nearly sent Cashion to the if game. Can Mangum finally get to State?

Cashion is giving Jenks all they want but looks like they'll fall short. They were within 2 with 5 min left but now trail by 11 with around a minute.
Someone needs to tell those boys there's 4 3 point lines and theirs is the closest (white) one. Tons of airball 3s from Cashion, mostly from behind the NBA line.
