Seeking Higher Ground
Oklahoma's weather-folk are saying precipitation is on the way this week, so who in 2A will be the rainmakers?
GotW:
Washington @ Bethel - Is it too early to think this is the District 3 Championship game? The Wildcats' ascent from the depths is no joke, while the Warriors have been regularly playing above the clouds since the 90s. Perhaps Washington will quash yet another hopeful underdog, or Bethel may hang around until the 4th quarter and take the title.
KaEo:
Cascia @ Spiro - Following last season's quarterfinal team, the Bulldogs returned only 3 starters on offense (and only 2 on defense), but have taken flight with their new coach and wide-open attack. Now comes the real test, as the balanced Commandos are coming to town seeking to reestablish command of District 5.
Kiefer @ Victory - "Are you two related?" Both of these District 7 teams run similar wide-open offenses, reliant on their quarterbacks. Both returned a lot of production from 2020. It was a two point Conq's win in the Trojans' backyard last year, so expect the same kind of high-scoring, high-drama football in south Tulsa.
Davis @ Comanche - Winner of this one should be the solid favorite to be (at least) the runner-up in District 4. Indians' lopsided scoreboard loss to Marlow was a bit misleading, while Davis is starting to resemble a more typical Wolves team.
Thunder in the Distance?
Eufaula @ Hugo - Buffaloes got another big win last week, but can their run-dependent offense control the ball enough to dilute the Ironheads' potent offensive engine?
Salina @ Sequoyah - The battle for securing at least second place in District 8 is going to be intense - because nobody in this district wants to end up 3rd or 4th.
Chandler @ Jones - Lions came from behind in the 4th to survive Crossings, and now have their hands full again on the road in Longhornland.
