A possible district system for Class A and B

There is some good and some bad to it.

The Coaches I talked to HATE IT. It forces them to schedule teams they do not want to play. Go look at some of the really good programs schedules. Theyre playing some teams that they really have no business playing. It also really waters down the quality in tournaments. The rankings get criticized quite a bit, but I personally think its pretty accurate. Yes there are some politics to it. Yes there are some things that make you snicker at. Its far from perfect. But, its like most things in that its a lot better than it used to be. The Dist format to me was setup to make the OSSAA's job much easier. It was created strictly out of laziness in my opinion.

They don 't need it. The bigger classes don't need it. It seems that Oklahoma is trying to do what Texas is doing. The Dallas area alone is more populated than all of Oklahoma. With as many schools there are in Texas they have to do the district layout.

Rick I agree. The guys I know that does it in softball hate it.everyone gripes about the rankings but go back and look at the rankings and who makes it to state and it’s usually about right. There is some years that people gets screwed but it happens. District want solve that problem. Some districts are loaded with good teams some have one dominant and the rest bad. I’m Glad A n B still uses rankings.

Look at 5A and 6A teams some of them play JV on separate days, Heck some JV teams will even go play in varsity tournaments (Even the really good JV teams)

That was probably the district with Latta, Stroud and Coalgate because that was the one where three teams out of one district made it to state

It’s a terrible idea. Every coach I’ve talked to about it at a good program hates it.

The 2A through 4A guys hate it. It is devastating to non-District scheduling, and it is beginning to kill multi-class invitationals.
Rain outs and make-up dates are a pain in the backside!!!
People are driving two-hours to win 20-0 twice. 
How hard is it to have a three-team District Tournament over a TH-FR-SA???

If it comes up, I think A and B coaches will pitch a fit
