I find it interesting how many people pick against Thomas...especially how many will say it won’t even be close...
They’re going for their 11th State Football Championship in school history, many of the upper classman have a title already in Track & Field. To say it’ll be a blow out is a little naive, either way in my opinion.
In Cashion you have a program who’s been to the show but hasn’t brought home much hardware, they’re due for something. Wether it’s another Runner Up or the Gold will be determined Saturday.
I wish both teams the best of luck!
Second, they’ve had 2 common opponents in Tonkawa and Hooker. Thomas beat Tonkawa 44-8 and Hooker 17-14. Cashion beat Tonkawa 42-0 and 60-22. I know you can’t compare scores, but they beat the common opponents worse.
Good points but I don’t think you can compare. The Hooker/Cashion game was a lot more competitive game than the 60-22 score. Don’t get me wrong Cashion was and is the better team but Cashion did score on a kick off return and managed to turn several turn overs to points. I’m not sold that Thomas will turn the ball over like Hooker did. I’m not taking anything from Cashion during that game but if I can live in a worked of what if’s and but’s for the sole purpose of comparing this State Championship game.
So if Hooker doesn’t turn the ball over and give up 21 points by giving Cashion a short field and they don’t let that kick off return that game is 32-21. If Hooker makes that sack on 4th down right before half or if the defender correctly times the jump Cashion doesn’t score at half and it’s 14-14. (Again, this is a world where one team doesn’t make the mistakes. I know it doesn’t exist but let’s say it does.) Then this game is 24-21. Cashion beats Hooker by three points. I say this because Hooker played nearly a flawless game against Thomas and didn’t against Cashion. That is how I look at the common opponents. I know it’s unusual but I think it does help when you do comparisons.
I still think Cashion wins but I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Thomas wins. Cashion has the better team. The better offense. The better defense. The better special teams. Just my two cents.
