Midwest City hires former Moore assistant coach Megan Maloy as head coach

Midwest City named former Moore assistant coach Megan Maloy as its new head girls basketball coach on Thursday, according to the Midwest City Beacon.
The hiring is pending school board approval, which will be decided next week.
“It’s just a really exciting opportunity for me to step into that role to inspire these kids on and off the court,” Maloy told The Oklahoman. “When I heard it was open, it was a no brainer to want to get the job.”
Maloy succeeds Daniel "Corky" McMullen who recently moved to the head boys basketball coaching position.
“I am a defensive coach,” Maloy said. “We will practice a lot of that and make sure we are very disciplined on that end. And then play a fast-paced game offensively.”
This will be Maloy’s first opportunity to lead a high school girls basketball program. She has served the past two years as the assistant coach at Moore. Her coaching career began at her alma mater, Randall, as a member of the coaching staff for three years. She was named head coach of Randall in 2017.
Maloy graduated from Earlsboro High School in 2010. She played college basketball at Eastern Oklahoma State and Oklahoma Panhandle before transferring to Randall. She helped lead Randall to two ACCA National Championships in 2013 and 2014.
