Just one week away for the start of the 2019 class 2A football season. The 2019 campaign will be full of great teams and players. View the weekly schedule
Defending champion – Sperry Pirates
Sperry won their first title in school history last season, can the pirates repeat? Sperry returns key players, such as Walker Niver on defense.
Teams that can dethrone Sperry
Millwood Falcons – After getting upset in the second round by Vian last season, the Falcons will be looking to bounce back and gain another title in 2019.
Metro Christian Patriots – A successful first year in class 2A last season, has the Patriots feeling confident heading into the 2019 campaign. A week zero test against Broken Bow will show if the Patriots are ready to take the next step.
Vian Wolverines – After upsetting Millwood last season, the Wolverines are eager to kickoff the 2019 season. Boasting players such as Solomon Wright and Elijah Wright, sons of former Wolverine great Kenyatta Wright. Vian will start the season against a tough Eufaula team, who also has a chance to compete for the title in 2019.
Jones, Washington, Holland Hall, Beggs, Kingston, Victory Christian, and Adair will also be in contention for the 2019 title.

Broken Bow at Metro Christian (August 30th)
A test right from the start for Metro Christian. The Patriots have one of the best offenses in the state; Broken Bow boasts one of the best defenses. A great week zero offense vs defense match-up.
Beggs at Sperry (November 8th)
Last season, these two teams met twice, once in week 10 and the other in the state championship game. Beggs took the district championship and Sperry won the rematch in the state title game.
Best Players
Asher Link – QB – Metro Christian
Link now a senior passed for nearly 4,000 yards last season and scored 45 touchdowns. The Patriots will go as Link goes.
Kendal Daniels – Safety – Beggs
This junior is one of the top recruits in the 2021 class. Daniels has offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Arkansas among others.
Solomon Wright – DT – Vian
Wright had a huge season as a sophomore last year for the Wolverines, boasting offers from Oklahoma State and Iowa State. With a big junior year, Wright will be gaining more interest around the country.
Many other players in class 2A that are great as well.
