Week 0 Games and Predictions

Are there no 0 week games near the Tonkawa area for class A? Pawhuska is playing but they are 2A now I believe.

Should that be a good game, heard Rejoice is going to be very tough.

Rejoice at Cashion will be a tough game for the Wildcats. Rejoice is ranked in some polls #3 in Class 2A and their QB just signed with South Dakota. He is the real deal and then they just fill in around him with kids that move over from Owasso High that want playing time...... Oh nice to be a Private School and control your ADM by admission standards. hmmmmmmm Crossings is in the same situation....... Oh all the rest of us poor little old country schools with just have to play with what we got roaming the halls and whomever resides in our district.

The comments about private schools getting 6A move-ins are so stupid. Please don't comment on this anymore because you ignorant. Rejoice has two players on there roster that attended Owasso, and one doesn't play. Meanwhile public schools all across the state recruit and recruit and not just in the cities, all over the state. Yes private schools have an advantage, and yes they should play up a class if they have success. But the championship for recruiting in this state belongs to public schools. Like seriously its time to just be honest. I could give you 50 examples, of kids leaving one public school and going to another. Happens in every class all the time. Using grand parents addresses. We had two boys leave my kids private school, and use two relatives addresses to get into the schools of their choice. You should hear the stories at the 6A level in basketball and football. I'm so tired of this. Rejoice like most private schools that aren't Heritage Hall and Holland Hall, have good kids, that go there most of there lives. Again the recruiting wars are always won by the public schools always. Everyone knows it, that has been in coaching for any length of time. 

How do you explain the success, other than transfers, right?  You can see Rejoice's (and every other school's) roster, on Maxpreps, for several seasons. Not loaded with transfers. Looks like a bunch of kids that have been there. Facilities are nice, but the game is still played on a field of uniform dimensions. Locker rooms don't make a player. Fancy weights are still weights. Core strength movements haven't changed, and don't improve strength or technique better if the weights and bars are new. The elephant in the room, that clearly nobody wants to discuss, is that accountability and discipline impact a program and team far more than facilities and so called jimmies and joes. I haven't seen anyone on here claiming Wagoner is recruiting. They win because of Condit. Gary Rose did a great job at Carl Albert, and everyone recognizes that, without a suggestion of recruiting or cheating. Small schools. Cashion is/has been tough for a while now. Nobody is claiming that Cashion kids are transfers from Piedmont, Edmond, Deer Creek, etc. Ringling? Smallest school whips up on people, and has some serious dudes, no allegations of recruiting. Washington? Does controlling the ADM make better teams? I suppose it might, if the kids you are enrolling in grade school, and moving through, are genetically tested for markers indicating high propensity to be good football players.

I did see someone suggest that Tuttle was rebuilding this year, via transfer portal. I thought that was funny. I don't know if they have kids move in each year. What I do know is that Tuttle has tradition, and they are clearly doing something right, and have been for a long while...in every sport. 

No, I don't meant to say those things, because, and it may come as a surprise to you, there are quite a few kids from single parent families and families that can't afford sport specific training, kids living with grandparents, etc. at private schools. Affording tuition, for most of the families, limits their ability for many other things. I saw it from both sides. From what I've seen, yes, accountability and discipline were the things that one had more of than the other. 

Metro, Holland Hall and Heritage Hall, I think I 'd agree that those traditionally have the more pedigreed kids, if you will. But facilities? Is to your argument that 3A, and below, schools don't have weight rooms? Some of the fittest people I know have nothing more than a rope, a pull-up bar and a tire. Thomas, Ringling, Crescent, Fairview, Cashion, among several others, I'm pretty sure they had kids hitting the weights, and did not appear to be lacking for a place to train, the last I saw any of them in action. 

Selected Admissions: Easy to allege that all private schools are cherry picking athletes. If they are not doing it during high school, then the people making the grade school selections need to put their scouting talents to work in an area that makes more money. But, your allegation is not really that enrolling kids in grade school is the problem. The real allegation is that private schools are cherry picking and enrolling established athletes at the high school level. It may be going on at some schools, I wager not all. The information is there on maxpreps, for a person wanting to point a finger at high school recruiting to view and reproduce here, to support the allegation that private schools fill in Jrs and Srs every year. 

I can't speak to pay. Seems I read on here, this year, a private school assistant suggest he or she was not getting a plus stipend. There are some good coaches out there. There are some bad coaches. You might be on to something there, apart from the money aspect, though. Maybe the coaches are generally just better. Again, from my perspective, the community, culture, discipline, and accountability of the program is typically determinative of success, and all of that starts with the coaching staff. So, you may be on to something. 

Watonga dominating Thomas, Cashion losing big (albeit to a good team) other than that we’re there any surprises that you all saw?
