Alexander is not going to take the Shawnee job. Neither is Holley from Stillwater. Pretty sure Holley turned it down the last time it was open. Plus heβs got a pretty sweet gig at Stillwater especially since Bixby is gone from 6A-2.
Harper was a finalist for El Reno last year before their two finalist found out they offered the job to two different guys and so they both withdrew from that dumpster fire. But Harper would probably take it. Been wanting a HC job for a while.
I could also see Kimes Gilbert being a legit candidate. I donβt know whatβs a better jobβ¦ Shawnee or Chisholm. Lol

David Alexander, Jeremy Harper, Kimes Gilbert, Tyler Harrison & Dustin Loveless were the names I confirmed today would interview. Obviously could be a couple more for the first round of interviews. I'd be shocked if Alexander took the Shawnee job. I don't know much about Harper but have heard positive things. Kime's is a good candidate but he's apparently looking to get out of the exact situation Shawnee's in. He's been at Chisholm one year and they were 0-10 in 2021. One season and he's looking to get out. Doesn't look good. Tyler Harrison was on staff at Shawnee last year and I can only see as a courtesy interview. Loveless doesn't have coordinator experience but spent some time at Choctaw and has been running the off season program for Shawnee since the end of last season.

Coach Coons was on the previous staff. Prior to that he was the head coach for Union's 9th grade and MS program. He is also a graduate of Tulsa Memorial.

I spoke to Kimes about, 2 months ago. He said he is an assistant principal and teaches a section of math as well. So that could also be a reason why he wants to leave, along with the troubles of football there.
I think they could get some really solid applicants. Catoosa is really trying to turn their athletic program around. And with how late it is in the cycle they could snatch a good coach who possibly didnβt make the cut with some of the other schools. The thing about Catoosa is that their district is extremely top heavy with Wagoner and Cushing and there is a huge drop off after that which means Catoosa can get back into the playoffs with some right moves which I think could be really attractive to some coaches.
