DC? You mean Del City? Which is in McAlester’s district. And their district went 3-1, and I think 4-0 last year opening round. Is 21 healthy ?
Mistake on DC being in that district... thats on me lol. CA and BCM could both def make noise in 6A-2, Guthrie would be competitive. CA was able to rest a lot of starters in the 2nd half of the Grove game, 21, 85, and 5 are all close to, if not 100%
CA would be able to compete in 6A 2 especially now that the Big Bad Wolf (Bixby) is in 6A 1, I don't know about Bishop or Guthrie.
Downhillrunner, you must just be butt hurt. Until Saturday around 4 pm, we won't know who the best district is officially, but in the mean time, here is actual proof that 5A-3 is, in fact, supreme to 5A-2 this year.
1) Coweta beat both of the teams in the finals by a combined score of 93-14 and I believe they are from 5A-3. No other team can say anything close to that.
2) The fact that 5A-2 went 4-0 in the first round doesn't mean they are better than 5A-3 that went 3-1. It only means that district 5A-1 is worse than 5A-4. If 5A-3 played 5A-1, they would have went 4-0 too. As a matter of fact 5A-3's 4th place team, Sapulpa, is one of 2 5A teams that can say they beat one of the teams in the finals. By the way, only teams from 5A-3 can say they beat either of the teams that play for the gold ball this week.
3) McAlester beat Piedmont by 18 when CA only beat them by 17. Also McAlester beat McGuiness by 10 when CA only beat them by 7.
4) 5A-3 is 3-3 vs 5A-2 but in those six games, 5A-3 has outscored 5A-2 by 32 total points, 171-139.
As far as the best player on the field, is actually can be someone from either team on any given day and even if you have the best player on the field, the don't give out state championships to individuals, they give them to TEAMS! There will be two excellent teams getting after it on Saturday and I think it will be decided by less than a TD.

"Coweta beat both of the teams in the finals by a combined score of 93-14 and I believe they are from 5A-3. No other team can say anything close to that" Coweta was the most overrated and overhyped team in 5A and a big fluke everyone knew they wasnt gonna make it out of quarters with that coach who just whines and cries and takes it out on his assitants #papertigers

Yes and peidmont only made it to the playoffs because they play a decent flexbone

Come on now Coach your rose colored glasses are showing. I guarantee 5A-3 would not have went 4-0 vs 5A-1. 5A-2 is the best district in 5A taking into account the top 4 playoff teams, and it has been that way for several years. East districts usually have 1 or 2 teams every year that can really go compete. I got CA bringing it home, and that is not to take anything away from your Buffs, as your guys have a great team.
I appreciate the compliment. I still believe 5A-3 would have gone 4-0 vs. 5A-1. Sapulpa would have given MWC all they wanted and more especially in the snow. Here is an interesting thought, what if 5A-2 matched up with 5A-3 in the 1st round. Pairings would have been #1 Coweta vs. #4 Piedmont, #2 Del City vs. #3 Guthrie, #3 McAlester vs. #2 Bishop McGuiness, and #4 Sapulpa vs. #1 Carl Albert. I think Coweta and Del City both win, and McAlester beat McGuiness last week, so I think 5A-3 goes 3-1 vs. 5A-2 with the lone victory coming from CA. It is going to be hard to tell me that 5A-2 is better.
I have general question. Not a complaint, but anyone know why McGuinness hasn’t been bumped to 6A-2? They have 5A enrollment and has met the criteria of the success rule. Seems to me they would/should get bumped a class.
Heritage Hall, Lincoln Christian, and Metro Christian all have 2A enrollment but have been bumped up to 3A. Rejoice Christian has A enrollment and has been bumped up to 2A.

I think Lincoln actually petitions to play in 3a, so they don’t have to mess with “common folk”
As far as the others, the success rule goes out every time they change the way they will determine classes. Like when they reduced 3a a couple years ago, and how it will go out the window once the split in the 2 lower classes takes place.
And yes no privates can move to 6a based off the success rule.
5A-2 has proven to be the best and most consistent district for a long time now. I do think 5A-3 made huge gains this year in trying to change that narrative. bolt knows football, but it might be best for someone on the outside looking in to call the facts on this one. Love Forrest to death and he is a heck of a ball coach. I wouldn't say he built this program from scratch as someone said earlier. Pratt and Maddox and crew really built the foundation for what is happening there, Forrest has taken the rains and built on that foundation. Those guys in McAlester get everything possible out of those kids, and have since the early 2000's.

Love is God's grace made actionable. I pray for a complete season for as many of our kids as possible.
I would say Pratt built a strong program but after him it went down hill fast! There was no accountability, the kids ran the program with no consequences.
Kid misses a game and practice for a cruise then starts in the next game.
Kid checks himself out of a game not injured then sits out practice the next week still starts.
There are numerous examples like this that Singleton allowed and really drove the program down.
Mazey had an incredibly tough job coming in and taking over that culture.

Now that guy is the AD. I bet that turns out well in the long run...

BMG usually has a 4A attendance or is at the lower end of 5A attendance. This year (22-23) they would be the largest school in 4A but of course they play 5A. Now I am going to ask a question most probably won't like. If a public school wins consistently like 6 out of 7 gold balls in 7 years. Why shouldn't they have to bump up a class like the privates do when they are successful? It stands to reason that if the privates have an advantage, then anyone winning 5 or more titles in a row has an advantage too. Just wondering....

Privates have an advantage because they control their enrollment. Meaning that they don't have the population that public schools have of kids that do nothing but drive up ADM.
