Just curious, when was the last time a school with a football program won the 2A Baseball State Championship?
christian Heritage in 2016. They were the Runner-Up last year as well.
Before that, the most recent football school champion was Salina in 1992. Since 1993, only 6 schools have won it in spring class 2A baseball. Dale (10) Silo (9) Latta (6) Wister (1) Rattan (1) Christian Heritage (1)

This is such a crazy stat. Besides the outlier here and there, football schools virtually have no chance of winning the big one.
Right? Looking at this year 75% of the teams going to the state tournament were non-football schools. In Class A, 7 of the 8 schools in the tournament were non-football schools. Has there ever been talks about having non-football schools compete in a division of only non-football schools?

This is talked about every year. In my opinion, the fall ball school advantage over football schools is the biggest in Oklahoma high school sports. The solution is so simple. Fall class B and class A remain the same for the spring. Then just divide everyone else by adm.

That solution may sound simple if you’re a football school. Obviously it’s an advantage but if you want to play/coach at a small baseball school just go to one that plays fall baseball… that to me is a simple solution.

This is what happens currently, the better coaches and players go to fall ball schools. These same schools will continue to win state every year, with or without football schools in their classification. Separating football schools will give those schools an opportunity to win a title. The more schools with a chance to win will increase interest in the sport. Seems like the obvious thing to do.

Here's the problem: while there are a few solutions that seem pretty simple, these issues have to be voted on by every OSSAA school that plays baseball. So the only schools to vote for any kind of change are going to be small schools who also play football. Schools aren't going to vote for more classes, and I can't necessarily say I blame them.
That doesn't change the fact that the current system is not fair and equitable in the smaller classes. This has been discussed at length in the smaller school forums... this is generally the part where non-football school people say "just get better!" Then, football school people say "well we would love to, but it's tough when we have to compete against teams that get to practice and play twice as much as we do." Then the non-football school people say "STOP MAKING EXCUSES!! GET BETTER!!" Then they say "play in the summer." That's when you pretty much just throw your hands up and realize you're trying to have a discussion with someone who has no logical justification behind their opinion, so they just yell louder.
There was some discussion among football schools over the last couple years about filing a lawsuit. I don't really know where those discussions went, they seem to have just come to a screeching halt. I have a feeling that if it did actually make it to a courtroom, the OSSAA's solution would be to simply allow the football schools to play fall baseball as well. In a perfect world, that would certainly help the schools who have enough players who don't play football to actually field a team. But in reality, it just creates more issues for small schools.
I don't hate the idea of leaving the fall schools in those same classes during the spring, then having football schools in the other classes. That seems to be the only solution that I could see actually happening at some point.

This list might add some names with Silo and Oktaha both most likely going up to 3A

In that case, Dale and Latta take turns winning with a third non football school winning every 6 or 7 years.

I'm curious what's the difference in 4A as compared to 2A? Byng is a fall baseball school in 4A in spring. They get twice as much time as others in the class like 2A teams. Not too many 4A people complaining about Byng.

Exactly. To me, its more of a Dale & Silo thing than it is fall baseball thing. But I get that it’s an advantage.

That may be because Byng is the only larger school playing fall baseball. Currently no 3A schools to my knowledge playing fall baseball. That will change with Silo in a couple of seasons. I believe they will be 2A one more season due to 3A districting not being able to change for baseball until after the 2023 season in the spring.

Well, Santa Fe South plays fall baseball but they as of right now aren’t in that top tier of fall baseball schools.
as to Silo, I’m not sure how it works but you’d think if there ADM puts them in 3A the OSSAA can’t leave them in 2A just because they don’t want to change a district but who knows, they might
"the fall ball school advantage over football schools is the biggest in Oklahoma high school sports" I agree that its an advantage. Anyone that says differently has their head in the sand. But, its not the biggest in my opinion. Looka at Broken Arrow & Union's ADM (5200 & 4400) VS the lower half of 6A. Its almost a 4x's difference. If you want to look at Fall baseball alone, go look at Byng's enrollment VS everyone else. Byng has 400 playing in the same class as teams with 90. Thats absurd. Go look at the Private School VS Public School. If you think Class 2A Spring Baseball is the biggest issue, then you havent paid much attention to much of anything else.

Byngs last listed ADM was 403. They play in the Fall against teams that have as low as a 82 listed ADM. If youre talking Spring in 2A, the smallest was Ketchum at 171.

I don't believe its because they don't want to change the district. I was told this past week at state games that you have to wait 2 years to "re-district" a class for spring baseball. 3A was on their first year of district rotations this year so they would have to wait another year.

Was told that at 3A finals Saturday.
I understand that, just seems odd to me that even though Silo could potentially have the ADM to be in 3A they’d just wait a year because they didn’t want to shuffle one district. Like I said I get it, just seems off base.
