Looking at some of those NW Oklahoma teams that I have seen play a few times:
Laverne -- will be competitive, but lose some depth, and will have a deep run in football, so we will see if they hit a stride at some point or get eliminated before then
Shattuck -- I think will be similar to Laverne due to football.
Vici -- They will have a shot in my opinion to get to the State Tournament, what they do with that shot is TBD.
Texhoma -- I think will be best team in Area 1 next year. I know that is a big comment, but they have the depth, the coaching, and honestly, the motivation after falling short this season.
Seiling -- HAVE NOT WATCHED THEM PLAY -- But I do know, Coach Nyburg will have them ranked highly going into the playoffs. Question is, and has been in recent years, how will they perform in the playoffs? They just do not seem to pull out the big games come playoff time. Maybe that is because their girls are so successful and it makes them seem underperforming, or maybe they just struggle with the pressure of playoff basketball. Side note -- 2 very solid 8th graders coming up, both I imagine will see some playing time.
Mooreland -- will be very young and inexperienced. From what I have seen with their HS/JH, they will be streaky, but not State Tourney caliber. Maybe Area, but I think that is a stretch. Now if their underclassmen perform well, maybe I will be proven wrong, but I just do not see them competing with the teams from above.
Laverne and Shattuck will both be competitive and could both make runs if they get their legs under them quick enough after football.
Vici does have a shot it's just gonna be finding someone to feel in for Hazelbaker and I think they have some kids that can.
Texhoma will more than likely be the best out of these teams and they probably have the best post game out of these teams with the Hernandez boys. The only thing I see messing with them is the chance of injury especially with their 2 best players and posts playing football.
Seiling will be pretty young but their guys already have a lot of experience. The only problem is that they rely on the three ball way more than they need to. I watched them in Area against A-B and they shot themselves into hole they couldn't get out of. But besides that they're a really good disciplined team and if they get an inside game going they'll be tough to beat.
Mooreland will be young like Seiling but they don't have as many guys with experience as they do. They'll have 4 juniors starting next year where 2 have started since freshman year and the other 2 starting some this last season and that's close to it on the experience train. But don't count them out just cause of that. Roper and Pittman both played really well in the playoffs and could help get them back to Area.
