It’s not about the number of state tournament trips. Dale/Latta had a 20 year or so run winning state tournament in baseball and I never heard anyone say anything close to how people talk about Cashion. Over the last several years Dale/Latta has been pretty decent in basketball and still haven’t heard anyone absolute say anything too dicey about the schools. Even Wewoka…who is always a perineal power in 2A basketball. People love to hate Cashion. It’s unreal.
Oh, I see what you are saying; it is Cashion vs 2A world and not about the success of the program. Why do people love to hate Cashion? I can understand Dale people, because Dale boys seem to have struggled over Cashion last 3-4 years. Honestly, I have been around 2A sports for over 30 years but never really cared about 2A football (which appears Cashion plays at A?), and I never heard of Cashion until last couple 3-4 years. So, as far as I am concerned, and no disrespect, Cashion is a little fish in the big pond of 2A sports. Sounds like to me it is more about the school, fans and program, because from a baseball & basketball standpoint, Cashion has done nothing to earn respect as a program. Also, you said Latta has been "pretty decent" in last several years? I think winning 3 state championships and 1 state runner-up since 2013 more than "decent". They are down, now, but should be back in year or 2 to being a state tournament type program. Dale has been more than decent, too.
You mistake my pretty decent as a slam against the two schools. I apologize and I love the Dale and Latta programs. They’ve been the standard and are humble in defeat and gracious in victory.
Agreed PCF. It's just comical how they act when they beat our boys. When we win or beat someone it's just another day, but when someone beats us you better have the confetti cannons ready and you better post the scoreboard on twitter. Or we have to talk about how Dale doesn't have a football program. Have they beat us a lot in recent years? Yes, but if you look at comparing the two it's interesting. I'm pretty sure they've never even won their own tournament and we've won it three of the last 5 years. Another stat that's interesting is this next few:
Dale Boys Basketball State Tourney Appearances: 14 Dale Boys Basketball State Tournament Wins: 11 Cashion Boys Basketball State Tourney Appearances: 4 Cashion Boys Basketball State Tournament Wins: 1 Dale Sophomore Class State Tournament Wins: 1
But I'm done talking about them, because let's be real that's all they want.
Oldblue, You didn't hear about Dale/Latta baseball, because winning was the norm. You don't hear me talking about the 22 baseball state championships because what is that doing for us these days? Absolutely nothing. Why football gets brought up in a basketball forum is beyond me. It's like me bringing up the success of our softball program in the girls basketball forum, No relevance.
I think your school would have to play football to understand the relevance there. You’re right there’s not much relevance when discussing basketball/football but there is relevance there when discussing fans and seeing player attitudes, and quite frankly the taunting that you see. People love to hate Cashion. Cashion seems to thrive on this bad guy persona and uses it to their advantage.
I wasn't at the game and didn't catch anything on the live feed. Maybe I'll go back later and watch closer. But just speculating here...Watonga is a pack of thugs from top to bottom and it's possible Cashion had some pent up anger that got released when they ended up winning the game. No, that's no excuse to waller in the $h!t with the pigs but it happens. So back to basketball, I've mentioned Watonga as a dark horse and they definitely have the talent...but they play without discipline and structure and occasionally seem to ignore their coach. I'm no fan of Cashion but they battled back for the W the day after a tough game with Dale, in large part due to the disorganized nature of Watonga.
Are you sure you’re not being too hard on Watonga because you’re from Fairview? And Watonga being thugs from top to bottom is ignorant. I know the Superintendent and I can guarantee you he is a strait up one of the best guys you’ll ever meet. Heck of a basketball coach too.
It's Mental Warfair that Cashion tries to use on schools like Watonga and Dale. Trying to get a mental advantage. Unfortunately they think it works, so I'm sure they'll continue to act like this. LOL

I'm being hard on them from a lot of years and having 3 kids that played all sports against Watonga, definitely not from ignorance.
How’d Silo drop to Pauls Valley Jackson Hewitt I need a report!
Looks like they won at Hugo the night before and trust me that's never an easy place to go, no matter what kind of season they are having. Let down perhaps?

I’m just giving you a hard time. I’ve watched Watonga over the years and I get what you’re saying. You’re not entirely wrong.

Ok. I just think top teams should show some class and if they can’t they should act like they been there before.
Sorry Blue, I took you a little too seriously. I've seen a little too much of Watonga HS sports and I and many friends (from other towns also) would be fine if we didn't play them anymore. Like you said, act like you've been there and show some class win or lose.

No I understand. I’m with 100%. I do know some staff at Watonga HS that are good people and hopefully can get that school back on track. I’d be lying if I didn’t see what you also see.
Chouteau over Preston maybe? Don’t know what Preston has so just a guess
Preston and Chouteau are fairly similar in skill. IMO. I would take Preston? Probably? I am not confident with the pick.
I think it will be a good game. Chouteau had a good run in the playoffs last year I think and I heard Preston is still young but their young guys have a lot of experience.
