Varnum beat Cyril 52-38 in the Regionals last year. Not exactly a "down to the wire" finish. Though Cyril only lost to Roff by 2 in the Big House. Is that the game you meant?
They hung with them for awhile if you go back and watch the old stream and it was 52-40 at Varnum (You was close). I was there for the Roff game I remember it
Everyone knew Cyril was underrated last year and they are again this year as well, People don't give them the credit they deserve yet there's some who will come on here and bash them (Like one user did after the Sterling game this year)

Last year was last year. BigSoldier was pretty dang good. They don’t have that other scorer to go along with Hart. Like I said they are good team and they have a chance but you keep slamming them down our throats. As far as softball you were right but I hadn’t seen them in person. I’ve seen this team and I just don’t see it

I do agree that Cyril had a very good team last year. My memory on the score wasn't quite right and I have now fixed it.
I just realized that the 52-38 score that I "remembered" (actually in some notes I had) was the Varnum-Cyril girls score in the playoffs last year. Funny that the Varnum-Cyril boys score was so close to the same.
I think Porter drew #4 and #8. SO #3 has to beat #2 or #1 in Porter's area. I think Porter can give Rattan fits they have a big and they have two guards. I am not saying Rattan cannot or wont beat Porter, I am saying they are far from a lock to do so. Porter has a nice team, I don't think they are a state caliber team? I think they are close, but I think the jury is still out for Rattan as well. That is why they play the game! I cannot wait. All 3 of these teams will have a legitimate shot to play in March. Velma Alma and Davenport are also in that hunt as well. The Area Consolation will be an all out DOG FIGHT.
Rattan got a 6"3 move in from Clayton that just came eligible from what other coaches have been saying
I would make the argument Casey Harleson for Davenport is slightly better than Kejuan Reynolds for Porter (Harleson is the 6"7 post for Davenport)
I would say Velma-Alma and Davenport have the best chance to play on Saturday but I do think it's probably Rattan and Caddo that get in
Hayden Brooks is the nucleus of Davenport. Harelson is a nice center for sure, but that teams playmaker the kid who will beat you is Hayden Brooks. Davenport has a nice complimentary cast and they are senior heavy (6 of their 8 players are Seniors) which should make them dangerous as well.
Porter has a senior heavy team with 2 senior guards Willard & Vega and their 6’6” senior center Reynolds. I don’t believe they are as deep as Davenport, but their complimentary players do a good job of passing to open shooters and their half court game is pretty good.
They will be tough outs. I would guess that Caddo is <10 better than Davenport and 15ish better than Porter? Rattan i think Davenport can hang. I think if rattan get caught up in a half court game with porter that could be interesting? I would give the edge to Rattan over porter by <10
Just making some not-so educated guesses here. I have not scouted Rattan or Caddo, just watched some highlights. I did see where one of the brothers from Caddo has 14 3’s and went for 44 one night. That is very impressive I don’t care who your playing.

Just wait they'll prove you wrong and I will be back at State this year so I'm sure I will see them there
Man I bet every school wishes they got draws like Okarche lol
Facts….girls side too
Girls side of Area II is weak as well. Stuart, Okarche, Porum, Ripley and Wellston are only girls teams well above .500 (I've been looking at every team in the regional)
Boys side only teams well above .500 are Regent Prep, Okarche, Wellston, Stuart, Dewar and Drumright

Hayden Brooks had 41pts last night per iwasatthegame on Twitter
I was not impressed with Willard for Porter at all. Vega is the better player and it's not close. Porter's weakness is no bench (They have depth but only play like 6 guys)
If the 6"3 kid from Clayton at Rattan can defend Reynolds for Porter that's the key for beating them but Davenport is my pick to pull the big upset with their core and duo of Brooks and Harleson
I think Caddo probably wins Area IV outright (The way they have been scoring this year shows it)

I agree with your assessment on Porter, if you have somebody they can defend Reynolds, you’re in good shape. Reynolds is going to score some points, but if you can keep him from getting offensive rebounds by blocking him out he also likes to slap and block shots which will get him foul trouble against a bigger center that has good fundamentals in the paint. If you have a good guard play, and you can shut down Porter I do agree. Vega is the better shooter, But the Willard kid makes a lot stuff happening by driving and slashing. He had 29 points last night and Vega only had four. Just an FYI.

One game I watched and Willard was flopping a lot and actually had the ref sold on a few of them (No joke, I witnessed it with my own eyes)
I don't know if they can beat Davenport with the way Hayden Brooks and them are playing

That Regional at Garber in Area 1 has to be one of, if not the toughest regional in the state. In my opinion, 4 Top 20 teams in the winners bracket in that regional on Thursday night !? I know when it is playoff time, you have to beat good teams to advance, but wow, that regional would be a lot of fun for fans to go watch, not so much for the coaches to prepare for.

I see 5 of 8 district champs ranked in Area I. Area IV has 5 of 8, Area III has 4 of 8, and Area II has 6 of the 8.
The two regional Finals in each area would project 4 ranked teams in each area.
Purely based on ranking:
Area I : #2 & #5 (+ 3 more ranked teams) Area II: #1 & #6 (+ 4 more ranked teams) Area III: #3 & #7 (+ 2 more ranked teams) Area IV: #4 & #8 (+ 3 more ranked teams)

Do you have to bring up Cyril in every single thing
This is getting old and you clearly have nothing better to do then bash them, I'm starting to think you are sirdunksalot on an alternate account, Admit it already, You hate Cyril and it's so freaking obvious it isn't funny. I have covered Cyril many times in basketball and softball and I don't know why people like you hate them so much but you just need to get over it.
Also I wasn't calling anyone out for flopping I was calling it like I see it as far as the Porter game I covered back in December went
