Who excites me the most? Probably Beggs, they have two good RBs and a ton of beef up front. Still need to get a reputable passing game to take pressure off the box. Rejoice has a lot of speed and experience, their QB can get it. Vian will be a very tough out. Community could give Washington a run for their money, they played them close last season. Victory is in a tail spin. Anyone know if Jones is headed up or down, they lost a lot this year.
Beggs/Washington are the clear and interchangeable 1-2. Beggs should have defeated Washington last year and both teams were very young and will be hard to beat. After them two it is a very deep and competitive group that could make a case for state contenders. Community and Rejoice both seem to be on the up and up. Vian is Vian and more experienced now this year. Victory was solid but coaching staff change makes things interesting. I thought they returned a lot tho so why you say in a tailspin
Victory: didn't they lose their QB, WR/FS, WR, and their HC & DC? After winning a district title??? Seems like it's going well.
Beggs is talented as always, we will see if they shoot themselves in the foot again like they did late.
Washington lost a lot at the skilled position, but return the QB & RB
Vian will make some noise, no doubt.. their game v Washington is must see for sure.
There's a lot of buzz around the county about Vian right now. Return 6 on O and 7 on D. Last year the majority of their starters had never started a game. Also a name to watch in the next 4 years, Mason Wright. Add another Wright from to the list of kids who can flat play and he'll be a freshman next year in the backfield with the returning starter who rushed for almost 2000 as a junior last year. They return 3 starting OL where last year 4 were brand new starters. I think they will be better and if not for lining up with the match up nightmare in Beggs last year, really may have made a deeper run into the playoffs. (From this part of the state so I know a lot more about their situation)
Washington lost 2 or 3 receivers that really gave them clean boxes to run against last year. Without them people may be able to cram the box on them a bit more, but they are still Washington and should probably be the favorite, for sure top 2 going into next season.
Beggs may as well be a college scout team next season, but always seem to implode late. The talent they have and no state titles in the last 5-6 years is honestly baffling. They have 3-4 dudes at OSU right now who played together in HS. Top 2 team who may be able to get it done this year.
Victory's staff leaving is puzzling. But they did get beat by Cascia in the second round after somehow pulling off the upset against Beggs. Was it a fluke and do the kids stay with coaches leaving?
Rejoice has a about 20 million tied up in football facilities and a coach who is as good as anyone. Expect them to be the next LC in the near future. Being right there in Owasso makes recruiting all the more easy.
Rejoice will be solid this year, but won’t win it. They have to take another significant step to get on he same level as Beggs, Washington, etc. Part of their issue is their competition in he summer and sub-varsity level. Their kids aren’t used to playing the good teams yet every week.
They’re right there in Owasso but won’t go to bigger team camps and play a quality JV schedule. They won’t get on the level of those teams until they do. They should try and schedule a good 3A team non-district like Vian, Beggs, etc.
There are still a lot of question marks in this top ten.
Agreed. That's why it's the way too early. Some schools I did not know much about, just went off of last years record and past posts on here basically. I did see Beggs, Vian, Victory, Eufaula, Washington, Jones, and Rejoice all last year whether in person or on some sort of stream. The rest are really a toss up and it could be anyone come September.

Rejoice v Beggs early could be another fun one.
This should be a fun year across the board.
So Victory only loses 3 players from a district champ team I would say that is in there favor. Obviously losing HC that rebuilt the team it could hurt but I don’t think the DC is gone too. I heard he was part of the HC backstab and will be the next HC. One person did say to me that he resigned but they are not directly in the know and probably got rotten info. Hes still there according to the parent I know.
Youngbuck has a great point in his post about Rejoice. They have heavily invested in building the football team and are in great location to get good kids that may not start at owasso but will be quality 2a players and they have a good coaches that have quickly brought success to a pretty young program. The next LC is not a stretch. Not sure about the others comment on subvarsity levels competition making a difference in 2a and them being a private school. Itll be interesting to see in a couple years especially with split coming and watered down brackets will have Rejoice yearly top contender for a title.
People may not remember this, but around 10-12 years ago LC was 2A. Won it in 09 and was always in the quarters until their move to 3A. They have actually had more success in 3A than they did in 2A. But Rejoice's facilities are unbelievably nice and they are winning a lot of games. I don't know where they will land when the split happens, but they will more than likely be in the Semis every year for awhile. Get rid of Beggs and Washington and there is no reason they aren't playing Vian or some other blue blood late in the playoffs every year.

Yes. The stars all have to align to win a title in 2A. You have to stay healthy. 2A teams usually do not have much depth. You also need a little luck. On paper Washington dominated Marlow in the title game last year, but the scoreboard said otherwise. Some games a team just takes care of the ball better and wins the field position battle. I will say I love how competitive this class is. Like everyone is saying, it's really up for grabs. I think there are probably 5-8 teams that could beat anyone in the Class on a good night.

100%. Remember when Jones almost beat LC last season but then didn't win their district? Or Beggs gets upset by Victory and Victory goes on to lose to a 4 loss Cascia team who wasn't great? Beggs should have not lost to Washington either, but the turnover bug bit them and Washington was the more disciplined team. You really have no idea night to night in 2A. 2A is a man eater. 1 or 2 key injuries and you go from being a contender to winning 8 games. So many things have to go right to win 5 straight playoff games.
What if LC drops back into 2A-1? Yikes, that would make the top even more competitive. They would be team 34 in 2A. Success would bump them up to 2A-1. That would cause people to revolt, but it could happen.

Lincoln doesn't want to be in 2A football. They have petitioned to play in 3A even when they didn't need to.

They do play Beggs, don't they?
They did play Beggs last year. They also played Cashion as well.

I thought about this, but with the rule in place, do you think LC is gonna tank to just drop a class? I don't believe so. Coaches have too much pride and they've built too good of a program to not have success.

As of now they don’t have to tank. They’re right on the line of 2A-1 and 2A-2 with their enrollment. I just wonder how the enforce the success rule for private schools. When they bump a class will it be all they say to 3A or can they bump from 2A-2 to 2A-1. It’s going to come into play for others eventually like Community and Crossings. To finish in the top 8 is just winning 1 playoff game now.
