An interesting piece of trivia relating to this game. The wide reciever Hammonds from Collinsville grandfather played for the 1968 State Champion McAlester Buffaloes. Hear the kid is one heck of a player.
Talked to a person closely connected to the Cardinals program…they are extremely confident they are a 2+ TD winner Saturday Night, that the Buffs haven’t seen a combination like 18/42 and they will get the job done and then some. Saying 5 (I think that’s the Buffs RB) hasn’t been tested all year expecting to make him irrelevant Saturday night.
Sounds like they are not lacking any confidence but I still will go with McAlester 28-21 in a great game!
This should be an exciting game. IMO the key to the game is the QB from Collinsville. How much can McCarty do if he plays 4 quarters? I would be interested to hear others thoughts on keys to the game. It could come down to a costly turnover. Cardinals 42-38. Whats the record for rushing yds by an individual in the state finals?
Pretty much spot on with the prediction. One heck of a game! Congrats to the Cardinals
I seen where McAlester's RB was being attended to on the sideline, Did he get hurt? I just seen Cam Jourdan mention it on Twitter
I do believe he tweaked an ankle but he came right back in. He was a workhorse they tried to rest him in spots but late he was pretty worn out. He was as advertised and then some. Incredible football player. Difference was Collinsville’s depth and having the QB, RB, and WR. They were also playing without two starting lineman who were on the sidelines on crutches and a wheelchair, which I thought was impressive. This was the best game I watched this season, it was a heavy-weight fight

Just want to say how proud I am of the Collinsville Cardinals. Congratulations! Long time over due. Well earned and you left no doubt. Going through Shawnee, McGuinness, Carl Albert and McAlester was impressive indeed. You are the best. Thank you for bringing the 5A title back to the East side. We might be rivals but the triad of Oologah, Collinsville and Skiatook stick together, keep each other on the schedule and support each other.
Collinsville seniors wanted the gold ball more. They worked so hard and you could tell how physical they play. Look out 5A this program is on the move upwards starts with the Elementary program.
In my opinion they have been top 5 or 6 consistantly for the last 6 or 7 years. Getting over that championship hump can be tough. Oh by the way don't count the Buffs out next year because Mr. Irrelevent will be back with an overall cast very similar to this year if not better.

I agree with you on all points Cardinal, Macs LT (#76) was basically out of the game he played but could barely walk on and off the field. Played RT in the finals.. Point being both teams had their fair share of injuries. I think McCarty is ok. Will know soon as rumor has it he will play BBall this year.

I agree with all of this. It was the Cards 4th semi appearance in 7 yrs and 5th in 9yrs. But it took until this season to get over the CA hump. But unlike Cville who loses their studs, with McCarty coming back the Buffs should be the favorite going into next year. I know McGuinness and Guthrie were pretty young. Cville, CA, Coweta all graduate alot of starters.
