The OSSAA has heard too many complaints for years that some area of the state is tougher than another area or why does so and so get a tougher draw because of geographic regions. Leaving it all in hands of the coaches rankings solves that problem. If coaches want it different they can get the advisory board to ask the association to pair regionals geographically, even if one might have four of the Top 10 teams. That would just be too bad.

There will be complaints regardless. This is easily the “safest” way of doing it. I just think it’s lazy. I don’t like it. But there’s definitely an argument to be made for doing it this way. Listen, the right 8 teams get in regardless.

You are making a little bit of a leap by saying 4 of the top 10 in the same regional. The top 4 are always paired with a 5-8. You can do it by combining a little of both.
hunter you are decades too late with the "traveling too far" mantra. Been doing it a long, long time in football and basketball, and for quite a while in this Fall 4 Regional format. In the Stone Age they went strictly geographics! That was WAY more harmful than driving 2:35 to a Regional

Correct. And then if #9 and #10 are both within say 50 miles of the host #3 and then if you just go geographically after that then 4 of the top 10 would probably be the in the same regional as well. You can forget geography and change the format but the association has shown in basketball they are unconcerned about potential first round state pairings. It's not that uncommon at all for two teams ranked in the top four to play in the opening round at state.

I really don't care what you think about my stance on Regionals IMO

Again, I never said do it solely based on geography. There are benefits to both sides. I personally like keeping 8/9 together & 4/5 together. Keep a 1-4 with a 5-7 and I’m good
OKTAHA: Oktaha goes 2-0. Wister gets in over Tushka on Day 2
SILO: Silo goes 2-0. Wright City in a dogfight over Vici on Day 2
RATTAN: Toughest Regional. Any of the top 3 seeds could find themselves 2-0 on Day 1. Rattan goes 2-0. Red Oak beats Byng on Day 2.
CANUTE: Canute goes 2-0. Dale beats Hydro on Day 2
I largely agree with you here Vaugh.... Only change I'm making is a Rattan/Latta play in game on Day 2. With Red Oak top two arms healthy, I think they are the best team in that regional now. and if they throw 2 and 1 then I think they go in as winners.
