Early thoughts ahead of October 1st (Class 2A girls)

While I still believe Dale will be the favorite like we discussed over the summer I do see 2A girls being a battleground once again, I know Latta, Silo and Am-Po all bring key pieces back, I know Dale has players out and lost a few key pieces but trust me Eric Smith will have them ready for contention

While that is likely you can't rule out the other teams as well

No way the conversation doesn’t start and end with Howe. Obviously there are always going to be several teams capable of beating them, they they have to start at the top. I think ampo, dale, Latta and possibly Pocola are 2-5 in no particular order. Just behind them would be silo, hooker, and hartshorne. But of course it’s 2a girls, so there could be some ups and downs all season. Cant wait to get started.

Not sure what Hartshorne brings back but I know Pocola brings the Scott girl back, The younger Chitwood sister apparently moved to Poteau

Most schools out that way are class A. They had some good girl teams in Boise City several years back. I wanna say Forgan girls were pretty good a couple years ago. I can’t really remember Hooker having much competition out that way though.

Yes, but that comes with being from Hooker who has always put a pretty competitive product out on the basketball court even when they weren’t making state. I can only think of a few times they didn’t at least make the area tournament. If you’re going to be one of the best teams in the panhandle, you’re going to have to travel. They should be use to it. Good luck to them…they are talented. Usually at the beginning of the year they play in some pretty good tournaments with some tough competition. Last year, they played Cashion and Garber in the Garber tournament and won it. I suspect they’ll do the same this year just don’t know if it will be the Garber tournament. Then they play in the classic in Enid right before districts that’s usually pretty good competition.

I don’t know if they are or not. Last year was the first time and both boys and girls won it. If they’re not in that tournament they will play in another high competitive tournament whether it be in Oklahoma, Kansas, or Texas.
