Whats makes you say that? They have avg like 40+ pojnts a game for the last decade. Now they don't throw it much but the vian teams I have seen over the past 10 years run it more than just about any team in the state. They avg like 300 yards a game rushing. Everytime in the past if you would look at there game stats. It would say they would have like 80 yards passing but like 350 yards rushing.
That had to just been a one game thing. Every time I see Vian play they almost always score 40 or more points and are running the ball almost every play.
It’s sorta similar to Commerce and Miami. They are 3 miles apart, but won’t play each other in football. I’ve been told it’s a no win for Miami if they play. Not necessarily the outcome, but if Miami wins, well, they are supposed to win (4a vs 1a). But, if they lose… Vian and Gore are much closer in size. But, Gore probably hasn’t got the horses to run with Vian. So, instead of getting embarrassed, they just don’t play.
My problem with Vian, They are good but their defense scores more than offense does
I’ve seen some stuff on Vian this season and they are much more balanced. Have a QB who can sling it. I remember the days of old when all they had to do was run it and in their district they could line up in about any formation and run any play and be successful any given year. From what I’ve seen this season they have a QB who can sling it. As for the Vian/Gore game, in the past it wouldn’t have been any contest whatsoever. Until the last 3-4 years Gore could barely win a game. Now they are a competitor in A with a chance to make a deep run.

youngbuck I know before Brandon Tyler came around, Gore was 5-35 from 2013-2016 so quite literally about 5 wins in that span of time, Since he took over in 2017 they are 27-8

So Vian has a QB with a good arm? Interesting, Most other years when they would just run the ball it would mainly be the RB doing all the work, QB and WRs were non existent unless they ran the read option or a jet sweep

Coach Tyler is a winner. He builds programs. It doesn’t happen over night and what he’s done in the last 4 years at Gore is incredible. But yes, the kid from Vian is a big time baseball player as well with a big arm.

Vian is in my neck of the woods and them and Gore are usually two teams I keep tabs on, I hadn't heard much about the QB though, I know Brandon Tyler doesn't get the credit he deserves IMO

Dug a little deeper, his last name is Ramos. He’s thrown for over 200 the last 2 games.
youngbuck So maybe they could be a darkhorse this year?
I think they may be better than they get credit for. I’m not predicting a deep run or a championship by any means. I’ve been to more Gore games the last couple of years than anywhere, but I know the kids over there and they still have some talent.

Coach Ellis did the exact same thing Tyler is doing now at Gore but it still resulted in early exits in the playoffs. Kinda hard to judge how good Gore is because they play in a very weak district and don't play anybody that's really good in non-district.

But if you look at what coach Tyler has done I don’t think it’s the same thing. Year one went 8-3 after a 3-7 and 0-10 previous two years. 9-3 with a playoff win year two, and were inside the 2 yard line in year 3 to go to the quarterfinals. Last season started 9 sophomores and made it to the second round (third round last season). So they have improved every year and been in position to make a deep run. This is the year they get over the hump.

Talihina used to be good but fell off, There was one year Hulbert and Sallisaw Central were good (Fell off after one point)

They will most likely have to play either Morrison or Woodland in the 2nd round you do know that right. Cashion will be waiting for them in the 3rd if they make it that far.
