2. Bishop Kelley

Thoughts:
-District 1 is a mess. El Reno has a leg up but still not sure how good they are.
-Got to see CA in person on Saturday, they are still the class of 5A
-East side as a whole is better this year, and probably deeper than the west side.
-This is the best chance the East has had to get a team in the championship game since 2015

Projected finish:
Dist 1: 1-El Reno, 2-Duncan, 3-MacArthur, 4-Ardmore
Dist 2: 1-CA, 2-McGuinness, 3-Piedmont, 4-Guthrie
Dist 3: 1-Kelley, 2-Coweta, 3-McAlester, 4-Shawnee
Dist 4: 1-Collinsville, 2-Pryor, 3-Sapulpa, 4-Tahlequah

I agree with your post cardinalcowboy. Carl Albert and Bishop Kelly are the two best teams in the class. I would pick those two teams to be playing in the championship game, with Carl Albert getting the win. I would also say this is one of the better years for east side teams. McAlester will probably finish 3rd in their district and could very easily be a semi-finals team.

(Or the equivalent of what is usually the 1st round)

Do you really believe Pryor will be at #2 for District 4? Their game with Tahlequah was canceled, and they haven't played Sapulpa, Claremore, or Collinsville. Would like to also note the Blow out loss to Lincoln Christain 61-22. I see them dropping at least two out of their next three games if not all three.

I do. They will beat Claremore by 15+.
Probably lose to Collinsville.
The Sapulpa game is the toss up but outside of the Taft kid im not sure how good they are. Id expect it to be high scoring. I could see Sapulpa winning but i would pick Pryor here.
If Sapulpa beats Pryor then they'll likely fall to 4th behind Tahlequah on the marginal pts criteria. Pryor-Tquah would have been a good matchup.

I wouldnt put alot of stock into the Lincoln game. It was scheduled on Wednesday afternoon of that week and Coach Ricke's offense over there is very tough to game plan for on short notice due to how many different formations they throw out there. Not to mention its the week before district play starts. Pryor got behind in the 2nd qtr and it more or less turned into a scrimmage from then on

You had convinced me that there was a good chance I would be traveling to Prior the first week of the playoffs and then the new rules hit which could potentially create a 32 team bracket. curious to see which teams will opt out of playoffs.

Me too. I hope Rogers and Hale opt out since theyll both be winless. That way all 4 district champions would get the bye.
Also i think y'all beat any of the other 3 in district 4. McAlester-Collinsville would be a whale of a matchup

I do not see the reasoning behind adding all teams to the playoffs. If you look at the district standings, most teams that fall below the 4th spot in the district standings have losing records anyways. Adding another game will only hurt the top teams in each district because it will put players at risk for injury and also exposure to covid-19. Say a district champ plays the extra game at the beginning against a 7 loss team and two days later that 7 loss team states a player who played in that game tested positive for covid. By the rules, the district champ will have to stay out for 2 weeks, correct? How will that scenario play out then?

Im not sure about how contact tracing like that will be treated.. but the OSSAA did address on what happens if a team thats still in the playoffs has an outbreak, they wont delay the postseason so that team is just SOL. Says that the team who lost to them the previous week would advance and play the next round instead of the winning team that had the outbreak. I have a real issue with that one
