Ron Arthur will have a few different responsibilities when the fall comes around at Shawnee.
Arthur is stepping down as the boys basketball coach after 16 seasons, he told The Oklahoman on Saturday. He will remain in his position as assistant athletic director, a title he has held for the past five years.
Arthur is set to complete a Master's in athletic administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in August. That will help him pursue a goal of working as an assistant athletic director at a college in the future.
"There's no doubt I'm going to miss the coaching aspect of things and being with my team," Arthur said. "Yet I'm looking forward to impacting other things at Shawnee now that I have more time."
The Wolves went 21-6 last season and qualified for the Class 5A state tournament. Four of his 16 teams made the state tournament during his coaching tenure.
