One of the top boys basketball programs in Class 6A will have a new coach next season.
Dewayne Bradley, who spent the past 12 seasons as Midwest City’s coach, was approved as Noble’s next boys head coach on Monday night. Bradley and Noble athletic director Tyler Solomon confirmed the hire with The Oklahoman.
The Bombers hosted regionals every season under Bradley and made three state championship game appearances. This year, Midwest City had one of the top records in Class 6A (22-3) and again had earned a berth to the state tournament.
“We played in so many big games,” Bradley said. “We won so many championships. Regionals, area, tournaments, conference. Just a lot of great memories.”
Bradley spent four seasons at Chickasha and two at Calumet before taking over at Midwest City, where he won 258 games. He was named The Oklahoman’s Super 5 Coach of the Year in 2013.
Now he heads to Class 5A Noble looking to build the Bears into a contender.
The Bears have a new facility, one Bradley says is one of the top gymnasiums in the state. This year, Noble went 9-15, losing six of its final seven games. Five of those were against ranked opponents.
“When we saw his resume come across our desk, it was a no-brainer,” Solomon said. “It’s not every day coaches like that apply, so we had to make sure we could get him.”
Midwest City’s next coach will take over a program with plenty of starpower coming back, even with the loss of seniors Christian Cook, Jakobe Johnson and Elliot Janish. Juniors Israel Hart and Makale Smith along with sophomore Kevin Overton will return and keep the Bombers a state power.
Fargo is a co-oped athletic program. Money in the district, but they have struggled to win in the last few seasons. Better group of athletes than their record indicates.
