I’m so tired of the ignorant talk about controlling enrollment. Private schools like Christian Heritage and Rejoice and Southwest Covenant and others need every student they can get. Now they may not accept every student but that isn’t done with idea of “hey we are going to be close to moving up a class so we better turn kids away.” If the students align with ideals of their school they would never turn students away, they aren’t like Heritage Hall or Bishop McGuiness that have an endowment of millions and can afford a drop in enrollment. Did CHA not do enough to control there enrollment so they wouldn’t have to go to 2A? Are the Ads and coaches sitting in rooms saying hey we need to get rid of these students or not accept any more we are going to bump a class? Some of you guys acts like athletics is all that matters. Most private Christian schools are more interested in developing young men and women and their character as opposed to winning by limiting numbers.
In addition there is more recruiting done by public schools over the majority of private schools and it isn’t really even close. From 6A down this rings true. If you think otherwise get your head out of the sand.
So you’re saying private schools don’t have an advantage and public schools just need to get better? I genuinely ask the question because I have noticed that some private schools are very successful year in and year out in sports and it seems to me they have some sort of advantage over public schools. Never have really dug into it, just thought being able to control enrollment was probably a factor. Never meant to be ignorant just thought it was an obvious way that they could be better. Like I said I have never really dug into it or have I been too worried about it, just wanted yours and others takes on why it seems private schools seem to have an advantage in some areas of sport. Guess I’m just trying to get my head out of the sand.
