Not a fair statement without knowing the individuals that you are referring to. Pretty sure both men are supportive of all programs and dont and didnt mind sharing athletes as well as encouraging them to participate in others.
The biggest issue with the Shawnee job and many others, Is their middle school programs are essentially after school programs that the kids would rather do other activities than go work hard and be apart of a team. This comes from the direction that the parents focus the kid's interest at an early age. It is a culture within the community that makes these places tough.

After school? Like Pop Warner in California and Arizona? They had like 12-14 coaches in the team photo and only had like 50 kids on the hs team, you telling me ALL OF THEM just coached hs and none were in a junior high/middle school program? And how many middle schools are there in Shawnee? Is South Rock Creek part of the Shawnee district? Or ORES? Dependent?
Im sure some of those coaches were probably Freshmen coaches. There is one Middle School in Shawnee. North Rock will be playing 11-man this year and enter the district play in two years probably as a 3A school. It sits about two miles North of Shawnee. South Rock, Grove and Pleasant Grove are Dependent K8s. Those kids get to choose between Shawnee, Tecumseh, Bethel, Dale and North Rock. Tecumseh's recent growth in numbers is because they get a vast majority of those kids from South Rock and other Dependents within the area. My understanding is that Shawnee gets none of the rural kids. The good thing is Shawnee will never flirt with 6A II again. They should be much more competitive in 5A.
Hearing Wegner for Oologah job. 0.389 career winning % in 15+ years as a head coach. Not a great hire for the Stangs, IMO.
Who is that? Where is he from?

Yeah so winning % worse than I previously posted if these numbers are accurate. Nice hire DeSpain!!!
The good news is he gets to keep the former Head Coach as his OC as a requirement for taking the job. Im pretty sure the same reason why Preston Pearson didnt take the job. Oologah a once great program doing things that good programs dont doI

Chads a great coach! Not ready not be a head man. Still a great Oline guy to have around. Wegner has never WON! That’s the issue with him. Oologah too good a place to have a loser coaching them!!!!

The question you should be asking, Is were those schools better when he left them? Were they cellar dwellers that he brought to respectability? Above average play? Or were they good and became bad under his watch?
What I’m a saying is, there are a lot of good coaches that have bad records for various reason, unsupportive adm, lack of coaches, not a “football” school, and some just like a challenge.
I know nothing of this guy, but those are some things you should ask. Or it could be he’s the only one that would take the low pay and have the former head on staff.
