We used to have people. Like "Fear the Beard" that would talk crap, insult and start controversies. That started conversations. It's not in my nature, but if you would like. I could be every one's Villain. As long as you don't think less of my home town.
I agree with johnsmith, Bethany has to be the pick, if they win it they will have certainly earned it. The happenings the last few weeks in districts 1 and 4 certainly have changed the playoff picture quite a bit. Can't imagine Bethany is too happy about drawing Clinton in the first round. Their road to gold now looks like Clinton 1st round, Wagoner 2nd round, Poteau semi-finals then either Bristow or Tuttle in the championship. That's a heck of road.
Top half of the bracket certainly looks easier than the bottom half, Bristow has to be the favorite. Broken Bow vs Bristow interesting first round match up. Think Bristow survives to host Tuttle in 2nd round, winner of this game will go to the Finals. Just don't think Sallisaw or Weatherford could beat either Bristow or Tuttle in the semis.
Don't really see Poteau having too much trouble in the 1st or 2nd Round and should be in the semi finals
So that leaves a potential 2nd round showdown between Wagoner and Bethany. Can Wagoner get revenge for last year? Don't think so. This isn't the same Wagoner team as the last few years. Losing to Pryor and getting destroyed by Bristow proved that. Just can't see Wagoner getting on the bus and going to OKC and beating the best team and player in the class at their place. This would be Wagoner's longest road playoff game in how long?
I guess I would be remiss if I didn't say a few words about Oologah. Certainly strange and weird to not be involved in the playoffs for the first time in a very long time. Was a disappointing season for sure. Week 4 loss to Cleveland at home killed us. Offense was improved over last year but the defense was nonexistent. Think we gave up more points this year than the last 5 years combined. But at least we ended the season on high note thrashing Catoosa in Rogers County Bedlam and have something to build on for next season. Jury still out on Chad whether he is the guy for the program or not. I can't help but wonder what Oologah would be under Werner, Not to say he wouldn't have left after one season to go back to Poteau like he did Hilldale. Would like to think Oologah would have been harder to leave than Hilldale but when you have a championship ready team to go to it would be hard to stay and build something. For whatever reason the deal didn't get done and here we are. We will see what the future holds.

Long time follower but have never posted to the forum. Born and raised in Newcastle and a life-long racer fan. Just stating the obvious but I’ve seen all of the heavyweights from the west side and Bethany is, by far, the best in the west. It is November so anything can happen but they are loaded.
I have to talk about my racers though. I would LOVE to hear others comments. My thoughts on the year...we had a ton of injuries, it’s part of the game and so does everyone else so that excuse doesn’t cut it. The way I see it, we brought in all of the outside coaches from 6A schools (mainly from Moore) and they have had 3 losing seasons in a row. I think the first two years we give them a pass (you have to remember that the previous 2 years we went 2-18 and except for the 2014 team, we have really been irrelevant) We go down to Elgin and control our playoff destiny. Beat a very average Elgin team and we make the playoffs!! And our offense goes out and scores 10 points and we get beat 13-10 and our season is over. I think it’s time for a change. Our offense is not good. We can move the ball against average teams but we can’t score in the red zone. We have had numerous turnovers and drives stall out when we had to score. We go for it on 4th down when we should punt and leave the defense in terrible situations. And our defense is actually playing very well. In our 4 district losses our offense has scored a total of 51 points. That’s an average of a little over 12 points a game. We aren’t going to beat anyone when we average 12 points per game. Just my 2 cents. Would love to hear others take. Maybe I’m being too hard and need to give them some slack.
I’m curious to see what kind of a run Bristow can make. I’ve followed them for years being from Stroud and playing them year in and year out. They’ve had all the talent in the world, from the late nineties til now, and can’t seem to make any noise. Losing in the first round several times, including last year. Watching them this year and it’s the best team they have had in quite some time. Hoping they can make a deep run of some kind. They’ll be a down a bit next year, as they are losing a bunch of talented seniors.

I am fairly new to the Oklahoma 4A realm. I am working on building my knowledge base. However, the majority of information I'm getting thus far is very biased option based. Understandable but, not very factual. I don't have the histories of the programs to base my predictions on as most of you do. Therefore, my views are based on "what have you done lately". I'm in tune with district 1 since that is my district. I think Weatherford might be better than most think. Biased maybe but, both loses were more about them beating themselves than losing to the opponent. Silly penalties and over thinking. I get the Bethany/Tuttle hype. It is the lack of eye tests of others that escape me. How the team might match up in terms of size, speed, talent, and coaching. Not to mention injuries. I can research the teams past records and matchups but, Seniors graduate and freshmen move up every year and coaches shuffle here and there. Therefore, an unreliable and inconsistent prediction model. Wichita Lineman mentioned Bethany might not be too happy about drawing Clinton first round. I have seen Clinton this year and know their history. Without eyes on Bethany, I still don't think they have anything to worry about. Bethany by at least 3 scores. The only other game I have on my opening round fight radar is Cache vs Tecumseh. Does Tecumseh have anything for Cache? One observation from watching some live stream replays of games. If you're going to be a play-by-play caller, know the rules. It's not that hard guys. Lastly, does anyone have any first round upset predictions?

I don't see any upsets happening in the first round. The best quarter-final match up will be Tuttle at Bristow. My Semi picks will be Weatherford, Tuttle, Bethany and Poteau. I think the Bethany-Poteau match up will be just like the Tuttle-Poteau semi-final game last year. I will take Bethany and Tuttle, with Bethany winning it all. To me, following 4A all year, Bethany and Poteau have been the most consistent and dominate teams.
Well to put it simply this is rebuilding season unlike years past where it was always just reload. I think Bethany has a 99% chance of success against the Reds but they are a very talented football team. I actually pick them to win it all this year so go Broncos!
Empires won by conquest have always fallen either by revolt within or by defeat by a rival

Poteau easy to semis, very dominate team, as long as they stay healthy, Not near as much depth as last year. Of course they did win their first round game with the backup Qb, that I’m pretty sure was the starter week 1 In their loss to El Reno. Would not surprise me at all to see them win it, the wing t is basically a “niche” offense now, that isn’t seen often, and they still do a few things from gun.

Poteau hosting Cache could be a surprising matchup. Cache runs the same "niche" offense. Could be fun to watch for sure! Check out my post in 4A Quarterfinals thread!

I don't know much about Cache, but looking at their schedule and the point totals from all of their games, I don't see how you can say they are evenly matched and that Cache will win? Poteau has the top defense in 4A allowing 8.4pts and 158 total yards a game. Even with their starting QB out the past 2 weeks, Poteau scored 47 and 48. I would be surprised if Cache scored more than 2 td's. Poteau has been a dominate team on defense the past 2 years and playing at home, where they have only lost once in the past 3 years. I just don't see it, but it is the playoffs?? I am looking forward to watching this game tonight. Good luck to both teams!
