Sorry for the delay folks but it's been a very busy weekend. Just giving a quick rundown of what I saw between Tonkawa and Fairview. First, just want to give Jacketeer and his Yellowjackets a shout-out that was a darn good football team. My goodness they had speed everywhere. That Dillard kid is one of a kind athlete, I got Johnny Manziel vibes watching him play.
Biggest factor in this ball game was The Bucs physicality on both offense and defense. As I mentioned before the game I knew Fairview were going to move the ball on is on defense. The Bucs job was to simply make them earn every yard and hit em hard when it came time to wrap up and tackle. On offense we our O-line through the clutch yet again opening up holes for the running attack or providing protection when it came time to pass. Of course you know our usual suspects in Hampton and Shepard had good games of course.
Big turning point in the game was that mishandled fumble by Dillard on third and goal late in the third quarter. Tonkawa needed to capitalize on the Yellowjacket mistake and thankfully they did.
Biggest play of the game: just when you thought Tonkawa had complete control after the big mistake by the Yellowjackets, Fairview yet again drove the field to our goal line with a chance to get momentum back on their side. The unsung hero of the game #12 Cameron Grein came up with the game sealing INT after a Tim Tebow inspired throw from Dillard.
Super proud of this Buc team they've far exceeded my expectations and we're back in the state title game! Jacketeer I wish you and your jackets good luck next season. Ain't nothing for them boys to be ashamed of! One last thing I was wondering on the condition of what I believe is #15 Haydon Johnson for Fairview, I saw the hit his helmet took to the turf and noticed how long he was down for. I trust he's ok but I just want to be sure, certainly a big loss at that point of the game.
