"If" the playoffs started today....

dtrain and truth if you heard what the kid said for the unsportsmanlike fouls you would have flagged them as well, and to be fair the white hat threw the flag for all three unsportsmanlike fouls plus the roughing foul. so don't place blame or credit where it is not warranted lol!! Again you didn't like the calls fine change it by becoming part of the solution. Truth if that is the worst officiating you have seen then you don't remember  maysville in the 70s or even playoff games as recently as 2 years ago. When you are a fan it is difficult to be objective, a painful lesson I learned some years back.

I just watched to 4th quarter or the first 6 minutes of the 4th quarter of the Stratford vs Wynnewood game. For whatever reason maybe the video goes off at Stratford is about to score and we don't get to see the final 5:40 seconds of the game. Here's my breakdown:

The start of of the 4th qtr to about 7 minutes left there wasn't much to see.

At 6:49, left to play there is a Pass Interference call on Wynnewood. Great call in my opinion. Ball is underthrown, the receiver comes back to make the catch but is grabbed by the defender. That's an obvious Defensive Pass Interference Call all day.

At 6:34, the first play after the PI call Stratford runs up the middle and towards the end of the play there is a fumble. Wynnewood recovers, however; the umpire is calling the player down before he fumbled.

At 6:20, False Start on Stratford.

At 6:13, Stratford fumbles the snap and it turns into a broken play. QB runs to the right and is pushed out of bounds towards Strafords sideline. #12 for Wynnewood gets into an argument with several players from Stratford. A flag is thrown. As #12 is running away from the sideline he is still talking to Stratford sideline before he turns around and runs towards his sideline. The white hat runs towards Wynnewood's sideline and talks to the coach from Wynnewood. The white hat then makes the call for three unsportsman like penalties. Now, the thing to remember is that these penalties are dead ball fouls. All unsportman like or dead ball fouls are enforced. Now they are are enforced in the order they happen. So the 1st dead ball foul is against Wynnewood (+15), 2nd is against Stratford (-15)....so we should just be back to where we started (these penalties DO NOT OFFSET) but there is a third unsportsman like foul that is against Wynnewood (+15) so they mark off 15 yards and the ball is on the 42 yard line. Great enforcement by the crew, at least in my opinion so far, they didn't rush and I believe they got the calls right. Now I don't know what was said but I do know there were words said. Now we don't know all the warnings or what the officials have said/told players and coaches but the officials do walk throughs before the game and during the course of the game they will tell players to stop the trash talking, watch this or watch that, and if it happens again the next time it'll be penalty. Now as minimal as it may seem to us, the fan, I thought the officials have done a great job to this point. At some point, the teams need to be disciplined enough to not get in a trash talking match, physically seek to late hit a player later or get in a one on one altercation with a player, and coaches need to know when to stop arguing a call. I can promise you this, these officials do not care who wins this game. Yes, in my opinion, Wynnewood and Stratford both started to implode and both teams became undisciplined. You don't have to agree but it is what I saw.

At 6:13, pass play that goes incomplete

At 6:08, Stratford runs for 14 yards for a 1st down and the ball is now on the 27 yards line. The following play is a 25 yard run and the ball is on the 2 yards line, 1st down Stratford with 5:40 left to play. Then the video on Stratford youtube channel shuts off.

I personally saw nothing the officials did that showed any bias towards Stratford nor did I see any calls that went against Wynnewood that were not unwarranted. What I watched it seemed to be a pretty good officiated game and the calls were correct whether you agree with them or not. I have officiated before and still do from time to time and it appears to me the new trend is that fans want the officials to call a penalty after every play. The fans/coaches want the officials to make a call that changes the game rather than letting the players decide the outcome. Watching Stratford's broadcast all I could here was how terrible the officials were. The calls they missed. That they suck. As Stratford is yelling at the officials that they suck they just awarded your team 30 yards yet, you're screaming that they are awful??? Come on. Be better as fans. Also, most fans have a small understanding of the rules. This is not college. This is not the NFL. And just because you played football before does not make you an expert or know what you are talking about. Now, if anybody knows where I can watch the final 6 minutes of this game please let me know so I can further digest the video and put the claims that these officials were the worst.

Of course it did but from what I saw everything seemed normal. Fans will always see it the other way. Just like Stratford fans griping about the officials even though there was a PI that benefited Stratford and an unsportsmanlike that gave them another 15.

I more concerned on why they cut the video off. Did they not want us to see the end? It was a big game and it was there Homecoming. There video never cut off against Rush Springs. It never buffered once during the stream. It was fine then boom just goes off. Then we don't get to see what all the fuss is really about. Makes you wonder was there something up probably not but it was a little concerning. All we got was the aftermath of those last 5 minutes of the game. I don't know if you notice but not a single person from Stratford has said anything about the game not even Louddog.

I wasn't going to comment on this thread but it seems a lot of people are looking for clarity on last 6 minutes.

First, my understanding is person who was filming did not realize the feed was lost. It was the first football game ever streamed at the field. I give them a pass as next games they’ve gotten it right.

Second here’s the rundown from film from that game. I don’t have the time each play, but I hope this helps.

Starting with play 134, Stratford runs from 27 to 4. Next 2 plays nothing scored on 3rd play. Two point good. 23-16 4:36 left.

Onside kick, WW gets in on own 45. Little gain first 2 plays, 3rd play gets first down to Stratford 40. Next 4 plays a few yard but WW punts to Stratford 20.

This series Stratford changed QB’s. First play fumbled snap, 2nd play QB runs out of pocket throws ball in air. Now on film the back official threw flag for roughing the passer before the ball got intercepted and I counted 2 seconds after he threw the ball the defensive play hit helmet to helmet no slowing down. Next play QB runs 10 yards.

Same series, QB gets ball runs out of pocket, you can clearly see as he’s running flag being thrown on WW 27 holding receiver at beginning of play ball intercepted. Next 3 plays nothing for Stratford.

4th down QB throws pass middle of field and WW #1 is called for pass interference. Now this one could be a judgment call IMO, yes he bumped the receiver, but I’ve seen worse not called, but it was so drive extended. Doesn’t matter though as QB on next play throws game ending interception.

Yea it sucked we lost the game, really thought we could pull it off , but WW was better that night. I would say I thought the refs handled game ok, but you make your own decision as we’ve had a different set each home game. We got Ringling this week which I’m excited about watching (It will be streamed on Ringling Facebook). Looking forward to playoffs!!

I figured it was all pretty warranted. Most fans (especially if they lose) will think the opposite. Thanks for the clarification.

I see. That sounds like a difficult situation. Thanks for the response. I could never be an official but thanks to good ones like you that do it. I've met really good guys that are refs then I've met some that are like small town sheriffs that let the power get to their head. Lol They unfortunately give you guys a bad name. I keep hearing the numbers of refs are down. How many new officials do y'all recruit every year? And what's the numbers supposed to be?
