I'm glad to see a reduction in the "Class A is down this year" laments. Every season this drum is beaten to death. Looks like A has fared well against 2A so far even if they are playing the cellar-dwellers of 2A.
Glad also to see Fairview getting some well-earned respect. I was at the Alva game and have some thoughts on Fairview down the stretch. (Disclaimer: Alva isn't very good) Dangerous, well balanced offensive attack with several weapons. Swarming defense spent a lot of time in Alva's backfield. The cons are as always, dismal special teams play (the kicking game is crap) and a propensity to give up big plays. Final score was 60-28 and at least 3 of Alva's scores were long plays (one was a KO return for TD, one was a long pass and another was a sweep that went the distance).
Also, I haven't looked at the stats but I'd bet Fairview may have set a high school record for penalty yards. Not a knock on the officiating, they could have all been legit, but we've gotta get that in hand.
