Well it's May and it's time for the American Association Of Independent Professional Baseball to start their 2019 season. Exhibition games started on Sunday and the regular season starts Thursday May 16th. The league was founded in 2005 and is something that I have really gotten into the last several years as a fan of the former Wichita Wingnuts, who ceased operations this season to make way for the New Orleans Babycakes AAA PCL team to relocate to Wichita for the 2020 season.
The league consist of 12 teams into two 6 team divisions. The league covers the central U.S. from Texas into Canada. The regular season runs from mid May to early September. The divisions are as follows:
North
Chicago Dogs Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks Gary Southshore Railcats Milwaukee Milkmen ( new expansion team for 2019) St. Paul Saints Winnipeg Goldeyes
South
Cleburne Railroaders Kansas City T-Bones Lincoln Saltdogs Sioux City Explorers Sioux Falls Canaries Texas Airhogs
Kansas City T-Bones are the defending champions. Most of the Wingnuts players were sold to the Cleburne Texas Railroaders so I guess I will be a Cleburne fan this season, I do like their stadium, The Depot.
All of the teams and league have twitter handles and all games can be watched for FREE on American Association Baseball TV. So if you have the time I strongly encourage you to check out this league this season, you won't regret it!
