Anyone know the coach from Vanoss's background? I was impressed. He is coaching two teams and running two completely different systems. It seemed like every night they were in a barn burner and he pulled the right strings to win every night except one. Winning 4 of 5 area games in three days with a 2 to 3 hour drive. I am not sure how they prepared for the situation but they definitely were prepared. He is somewhat of a madman out there but the fans and players seemed to love him. Intense might be an understatement. His water bottle toss on Thursday night may have been the best thing I saw all weekend between the Big House and Weatherford.
Always enjoy hearing people’s first impressions on Hurt. He has been at Vanoss for 7 years. Has coached the boys for 7 years and the girls for 3. Has had the boys team ranked in the top 10 almost every year. Historically not a great basketball school (boys at least). He has made them relevant but hasn’t had a lot of success in the playoffs. First year he coached the girls they won three games. He took a team starting four freshmen to the state tournament last year and has returned this year as well. I believe he was the boys coach at Paden before that. Took them to the state finals. He is old school for sure. Coaches with a lot of emotion. Vanoss is a blue coller school. There is no town or community. If you went there you probably owned livestock of some sort. He has two type of kids that play for him. Kids who will run through a wall for him and kids who move to another school lol. Everyone gets treated the same. I promise if his best player is late for shoot around Thursday morning they won’t start and probably won’t play until the second quarter. That water bottle bouncing back up to him was great lol. The last water bottle he threw got about 10,000 views on Twitter lol
